Cuisian

In keeping with the luxury farm stay New Zealand experience, it wouldn’t be the same without farm to table dining.

Rodney and Leanne take much pride in presentation and flavors, working closely with their garden and farm management with the changing seasons and are inspired by the freshest ingredients that Montrose farm and garden produce for their kitchen.

Breakfast

Morning aromas of fresh coffee and homemade breads greet our guests at the country kitchen, where every day a sumptuous continental buffet with home made preserves, coupled with an extensive cooked menu  awaits including the Lamb and Duck Sausage .

Lunch & Picnic Hampers

It is easy to spend the entire day out and about enjoying the property and the surrounding  waitomo district. Should you wish, a packed sized picnic hamper that you, and your group require, can be made on request.

Dinner

Montrose’s dinner menu changes to reflect the seasons and features contemporary twists on New Zealand classics such as Beef, Salmon and of course Montrose's famous  Lamb and Paradise Duck.

Our dinner experience starts off with pre-dinner drinks and canapés in the lounge, or the Courtyard. A selection of fine New Zealand wines are available for tasting, alongside a well-stocked bar comprised of premium spirits and liqueurs. This is a good chance for guests to meet each other, or even plan the following day’s activities with your hosts Leanne and Rodney

"We believe food is a fabulous medium for people to bond over, share stories, and break bread. Relax and enjoy a truly stunning destination and private dining experience of kiwi hospitality. After dinner feel free to stroll the expansive gardens, or relax by an open fire."

Farm to Table Harvest

Meals are truly a farm to table experience - Montrose Farm is a prime example of sustainable, eco-friendly New Zealand hill country farming with the stock bred and raised on the farm they can source prime desired cuts from their Hereford beef, Romney lamb and Native Paradize Duck in shooting season.  In the orchard, fruit grows in abundance and the garden gives a healthy harvest of vegetables and herbs. In the surrounding areas on Montrose Farm, farm-fresh egg are collected each morning and  Manuka honey from their very own bee hives. You will also enjoy the subtle inclusion of Maori ingredients sourced from the farm's pristine native bush area. It is not uncommon to see Leanne roaming the grounds collecting various items for the menu.

Guests who enjoy a spot of fishing during their stay are welcome to experience Leanne's skill with their catch, whether it's trout from a local river, snapper or whitebait from the coast at nearby Marokopa.
